Registration open for Camp J with two locations, variety of specialty options for summer fun

Registration for the Tampa JCCs and Federation summer Camp J is now open and organizers say the various camp sessions and specialty camps are filling up quickly.

The Camp J camps offer programs for children entering kindergarten through eighth grade. The Signature Camp is located at the JCC on the Cohn Campus on Gunn Highway and all Specialty Camps as well as the new Kef Signature Camp for kindergarten and first grade students only, is located at the Bryan Glazer Family JCC.

On both campuses, Camp J will run June 4 – Aug. 3 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Extended hours are available from 7:30 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Camp J Signature Camp includes a wide variety of activities including athletics, arts and culture, boating, swimming and more that will challenge campers to set goals and empower them to reach their greatest potential.

Camp J Specialty Camps will offer a variety of specialized activities such as volleyball, basketball, super sports, multi-media art, dance and theater. The camps will be led by experienced instructors in their field. Children will have the opportunity to hone a specific skill or interest while keeping Jewish culture, heritage and traditional values of teamwork, spirit, friendship and community. One new addition will be a robotics camp in collaboration with the Museum of Science and Industry.

Camp Kef Signature Camp is located at the Glazer JCC for campers entering kindergarten and first grade only. Campers will take swim lessons, participate in sports, create artwork and experiment in science. Specialized activities along with Whacky Wednesdays are so unique that no two sessions are alike.

The CIT program (Counselor in Training) is a full day experience for teens entering ninth and tenth grade. This select group will have the opportunity to train and gain experience in working with children in a camp setting.

For more information about summer camp offerings, contact Pam Cotner, at (813) 769-4748 or at the JCC on the Cohn Campus, 13009 Community Campus Drive in Citrus Park or David Siskin at (813) 291-2252 or at the Bryan Glazer Family JCC, 522 N. Howard in South Tampa.
