Play ball: annual softball game registration opens for 2017

The 11th Annual Communitywide Softball Tournament promises a day of competition, family time and an afternoon of community building.

The tournament will take place at Ed Radice Park, 14720 Ed Radice Drive, Tampa, on Sunday, April 2 from 12:30 to 5 p.m.

This year, teams will compete to take home the first-place trophy and dethrone last year’s victors, the Tampa JCC’s Bad News Jews. More than 200 people from throughout the Tampa Bay Area participated in 2016 and organizers are hoping for even more players (and of course, fans) to turn out this year.

Single players and/or whole teams are welcome to sign up. Players are able to register a team of members from any synagogue, sisterhood or brotherhood, or can create a team out of any group of friends. Teams must be between 10 and 14 people, and each team must have at least three women.

Players should register at on or before Friday, March 17. The deadline to submit the full team roster is Friday, March 24. The cost to participate is $45 for individuals and $425 for teams. Registration fees cover the cost of a team T-shirt and snacks for the day.

Sponsorships are also available: a Level 1 sponsor of $100 or in-kind donation will receive their company logo on team shirts, advertising on the Tampa JCC & Federation website and game day advertising. Level 2 sponsors of $250 will receive their company logo on team shirts, advertising on the Tampa JCC & Federation website, game day advertising and advertising in the Jewish Press, fliers, local vendors and synagogues.
