In what could be a first, Ohio Orthodox synagogue elects all-female board

(JTA) — The Austrian government has written a draft law that would transfer ownership of Adolf Hitler’s birthplace to the state. Museum gets Torah that sat in closet 15 years

WARSAW, Poland (JTA) – A Torah scroll that sat forgotten in a closet of the home of Waldemar Sawicki in western Poland for 15 years was donated to a nearby museum. His brother originally had found it in a pile of garbage.  Sawicki told a radio interviewer that he thought it was a Slovanic church record and kept it with the idea someone would come along who could read it.  More...
