One lucky – and well-qualified – high school senior to receive full-ride college scholarship

The Tampa JCC & Federation will be accepting applications from students for the Louise Eatroff Memorial College Scholarship Fund, which will provide a four-year, full-ride scholarship to one worthy high school senior entering college in the fall of 2015.

The scholarships fund the entire annual cost of tuition, fees, room and board (after application of any available Bright Futures Scholarship) for each student chosen for up to four consecutive years of undergraduate study at a Florida public university.

The scholarship is awarded to up to two recipients at a time. When one of the recipients either graduates or loses their eligibility (recipients must maintain a 3.0 average), then another scholarship winner is chosen.

To be eligible for the scholarship, the student must be Jewish, a permanent resident of Hillsborough County, graduate from high school in the same academic year he/she will begin college and have earned a cumulative high school GPA of 3.00 or better.

Applicants must also demonstrate financial need, accomplishments in leadership, community service, or obstacles overcome. Although not required, favorable consideration will be given to former graduates of the JCC Preschool in Tampa.

The application process opens on Dec. 1 and closes on Feb. 19. Any scholarship awarded would begin in the fall of 2016.

Interested individuals should go to the Eatroff Memorial College Scholarship link at to find out the complete eligibility requirements and download the application.

The scholarship fund was established by Louise Eatroff’s family in memory of the long-time Jewish community activist who died in 2002. Eatroff, a former two-term president of the Tampa JCC, cherished the Jewish values of tzedekah and tikkun olam and believed that a college education offered countless opportunities for personal fulfillment and professional success.

Since the establishment of the fund, three scholarships have been awarded.
