Therapist to aid parents in decifering child’s thoughts

Tampa Jewish Family Services will present a workshop, The Development of the Parent: The Child’s Contribution, on Wednesday, Feb. 27 from 7-8:30 p.m. at Tampa Jewish Community Center, 13009 Community Campus Drive, Tampa.

All parents at some point struggle with understanding what their child is thinking. Occupational Therapist Dana Johnson, M.S., OTR/L, will introduce the concept of “hold your child in mind” and provide parents with specific ways to understand children. A parent’s response to their child’s behavior can affect the outcome of the interaction and the parentchild relationship. Parents of children with or without special needs, and parents of children with developmental disorders of relating and communicating – along with professionals who work with children and families – will learn valuable tools through specific case examples.

This workshop is open to the public. To register, e-mail Lydia Abrams at For more information, visit, or call (813) 960-1848.
