Purim play: The Congregation Beth Shalom Players will present Glee the Spiel! on Wednesday, March 7 at 7 p.m. The show will combine elements of the TV show Glee! with Purim characters – Esther, Haman and Mordechai – in a song-filled production.

Audience members are asked to bring boxes of macaroni and cheese – or other similar boxed food that can make noise when shaken – to use as graggers, then can be donated to the temple’s food pantry. Hamantashen will be available after the show.

Purim carnival: The congregation’s Purim carnival will be held on Sunday, March 4 from 10:30 a.m. to noon.

Torah tots: Preschool children up to age 4 are invited to Torah Tots, where they learn the basic aspects of Torah and Jewish values, on Sunday, Feb. 19 from 10-11 a.m. Each child must be accompanied by at least one parent or adult relative. This program is open to members and non-members.

Book Club: The Book Club will meet on Thursday, Feb. 23 at 7:30 p.m. to discuss the book The Slow Way Back by Judy Goldman. For more information, contact Zsa Lobel at (813) 689-1237 or zsa@

Daytimers meet: The Daytimers group meets in the Brandon area the third Thursday of the month at 12:30 p.m. for social interaction and educational presentations. Call Shelia Slavkin at (813) 383-7494 for information on the next meeting.
