BERNICE LILLIAN EVENSON, 98, of Tampa, previously of Boca Raton, died Sept. 10. Born in New York City, she and her late husband, Fred, ran Evenson’s, a small retail family clothing store in Verona, NJ. After her husband’s death in 1964, she remained as head of Evenson’s until 1979 when she retired and moved to Boca Raton. She was a charter member of the Jewish Community Center of Verona, served as President of the Women’s League and was very active during the building of the new synagogue renamed Congregation Beth Ahm of West Essex. Survivors include her children, Rolfe, Donald, Debra and Michael; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to LifePath Hospice in Tampa or Congregation Beth Ahm of Verona, NJ. (Segal Funeral Home, Beth David Chapel)
