B’nai B’rith Sunday brunch: The Greater Tampa Bay B’nai B’rith Unit 2603 will hold its next Bagel and Lox Brunch on Sunday, Nov. 15 at 10 a.m. Guest speaker will be Zell Savitz, a member of the Menorah Manor “Ambassadors Club” who will discuss the planned Inn on the Pond that will built on the property where the Golda Meir/Kent Jewish Center once stood. The meeting will be hosted in the GM/KJC Preschool Building, 1950 Virginia Ave., Clearwater. Cost of the brunch is $6. RSVP to Stuart Berger at 480-5721 no later than Friday, Nov.13.

Brandeis Book event: Brandeis National Committee is hosting a book and author event on Tuesday, Nov. 10 at 11 a.m. at Tampa Palms Golf and Country Club. Special guest is Dr. Steven Maskin of the Cornea Treatment and Dry Eye Center. Lunch will be served. Cost ranges from $20 to $25. Contact Madeline Foust at 977 7099.

Genealogy Society

Hands-on workshop: The Jewish Genealogical Society of Tampa Bay will have a hands-on working session Sunday, Nov. 8 at 2 p.m. for individual research using the Internet and resources of the society’s library. Several experienced society mentors will be available to provide individual assistance. A social with refreshments and library access begins at 1:30 p.m. at Gulf Coast Jewish Family Services, 14041 Icot Blvd., Clearwater. Novices are welcome and will be given an abbreviated “jump start” how to get started session. Attendees should bring their own research materials and laptop computer if possible. JCC

Babysitting class: The next session of the American Red Cross Babysitting Course will be Sundays, Dec. 6 and 13 from 1-4 p.m. at the Community Campus. The course will provide youth with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly give care for children and infants. The training will help participants to develop leadership skills; learn how to develop a babysitting business, keep themselves and others safe and help children behave; and learn about basic child care and basic first aid. Support Groups

Adult Children of Alcoholics: ACA (Adult Children of Alcoholics) is a 12- Step, 12-Tradition program for women and men who grew up in alcoholic or otherwise dysfunctional homes. The St. Petersburg ACA Group meets at 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays at the JCC of Pinellas County, 5023 Central Ave., St. Petersburg.

Alzheimer’s Group: The Alzheimer’s Support Group meets the first Thursday of the month from 4-5 p.m. at Menorah Manor in St. Petersburg. Facilitated by Gwen Kaldenberg, MSW, director of the Bresler Alzheimer program at Menorah Manor, discussions focus on the latest practices for the treatment of Alzheimer’s.
